Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG, a global leader in measurement and control systems for web-processing industries, is proudly celebrating its 80th anniversary. Founded in 1945 by Dr. Heinz Mahlo, the company began with radio receiver production before revolutionizing the textile sector by developing the first automatic weft straightener in 1958 — a milestone that shaped modern fabric correction technology.
Over the decades, Mahlo expanded its product portfolio and international footprint, entering industries like nonwovens, paper, and plastics, and establishing subsidiaries in the USA, Italy, Belgium, and China.
“Today, Mahlo offers the most diverse range of straightening systems and in-house developed sensors on the market,” said Rainer Mestermann, CEO since 2011. The launch of Qualiscan QMS, a robust web measurement platform, has strengthened the company’s position across sectors. A dedicated production hall was established in 2018 to meet rising demand.
Despite global economic shifts, Mahlo maintains an export share of 80% and remains confident in its resilience, backed by a skilled team, strong values, and a commitment to innovation.
Rooted in Saal, Leading Worldwide
All Mahlo systems are engineered and manufactured at its Bavarian headquarters, with a strong focus on training young talent. “My grandfather always believed in nurturing future generations,” said Ralph Greenwood-Mahlo, current owner and grandson of the founder.
For the Greenwood-Mahlo family, leadership means long-term vision and sustainability. “Our systems help reduce waste and improve efficiency—supporting both our customers and the planet,” added Ralph.
With a legacy built on precision, progress, and responsibility, Mahlo looks ahead to shaping the next chapter of smart, sustainable manufacturing solutions.
