The Governor of Maharashtra launched India’s Road to the 11th International Abilympics Finland 2027 in Mumbai. The launch took place during the 18th Foundation Day celebrations of Sarthak Educational Trust at the World Trade Center Mumbai.
The event was organised with the National Abilympic Association of India (NAAI). It also featured pre-international assessments for the global skills competition for Persons with Disabilities.
India Plans Its Largest-Ever Abilympics Team
The launch marks India’s preparations for the 2027 competition in Finland. The country aims to send its largest-ever team to the International Abilympics.
The effort also supports skill development, inclusive employment and global opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
Meanwhile, World Trade Center Mumbai reaffirmed its support for disability inclusion. Its work focuses on jobs, skill development and capacity building.
The organisation has also set aside 2% of its workforce for Persons with Disabilities. In addition, it has opened a dedicated Skill Centre to improve job skills and career growth.
Maharashtra Governor Highlights Equal Opportunities
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma said, “congratulations to all the National Abilympics champions. As we move towards Viksit Bharat, we must create an ecosystem that provides equal opportunities and enables every Person with Disability to realise their full potential. Technology and AI must be harnessed with justice, compassion and vision to build an inclusive future for all.”
His message highlighted the need for equal opportunities. He also stressed the role of technology and artificial intelligence in building a more inclusive future.
Sarthak Educational Trust Shares Its Vision for 2027
Dr. Jitender Aggarwal, Founder & CEO, Sarthak Educational Trust and Secretary General, National Abilympic Association of India, spoke about India’s plans for the competition.
He said, “Our vision for Finland 2027 is to send India’s biggest-ever contingent, backed by world-class training, industry partnerships and a strong ecosystem of support. Through sustained collaboration between government, corporates, academia and civil society, we are creating pathways to global excellence, sustainable livelihoods and a more inclusive India.”
The plan focuses on training and support for participants. It also aims to build partnerships between government, businesses, educational institutions and civil society.
World Trade Center Mumbai Supports Inclusion
Ms. Priya Pansare, Director, Trade and Investment Promotion, World Trade Center Mumbai, delivered the vote of thanks.
She said, “World Trade Center Mumbai has always been at the forefront of supporting initiatives that promote social inclusion, skill development, entrepreneurship, and employment generation. Building Skills and Employment Opportunities
The event brought government, industry and civil society representatives together. They shared a common focus on skill development, jobs and equal opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.
As preparations for Finland 2027 continue, the initiative aims to help Indian participants develop their skills and access global opportunities.
