Liva Protégé shapes sustainable fashion at grand finale event

The Liva Protégé Textiles Design Competition, a pioneering initiative by Birla Cellulose in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), culminated in a grand finale at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai. The event celebrated the creativity and innovation of 15 student finalists from NIFT centres across India, showcasing their designs in the Surface Design, Woven Design, and Print Design categories.

In partnership with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Birla Cellulose launched the groundbreaking Liva Protégé Textiles Design Competition, which culminated in a spectacular conclusion at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Fifteen student finalists from NIFT centers around India showcased their works in the Surface Design, Woven Design, and Print Design categories, exhibiting their inventiveness and ingenuity.

The distinguished judging panel included members of the Birla Cellulose executive committee, Ms. Anupama Mohan and Dr. Aspi Patel, as well as prominent figures in the industry, Narendra Kumar, Ekta Saran, and Dr. Deepa Chandran. They assessed the creative works of the finalists, with special emphasis on design originality, sustainability, and inventiveness. The recipients were given their prizes by Mr. Manmohan Singh, Mr. Suraj Bahirwani, and Mr. Murugan Thenkondar, senior executives from Aditya Birla-Grasim Industries. The winners, who represented NIFT centers in Patna, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, received cash awards, diplomas, and trophies in recognition of their extraordinary skill.

Industry executives Karishma Shahani Khan, Mr. Surya Vallari, Chief Sustainability Officer at Birla Cellulose, and Prof. Dr. Sharmila Dua, Director of NIFT Mumbai, were among the motivational speakers at the event. They exchanged insightful opinions about innovation, sustainability, and the value of developing the next generation of textile industry expertise.

Attended by prominent industry figures and NIFT officials, the event underscored the transformative journey of Gen Next designers and the future of sustainable textile design.
