Lenzing Group has published its 2024 Annual and Sustainability Report titled “Activate Transformation Here”, highlighting measurable strides in climate action, innovation, and industry collaboration. This is the first time the company’s non-financial disclosures comply with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) alongside GRI and EU Taxonomy guidelines.
CEO Rohit Aggarwal emphasized the urgent need for sustainable transformation in the textile and nonwoven industry, advocating for sector-wide collaboration and standardized practices.
Lenzing updated its science-based climate targets in line with the Paris Agreement, earning continued recognition from CDP’s A-List for climate leadership. Since 2017, the company has cut greenhouse gas emissions by 41% and is progressing toward net-zero goals. Investments exceeding €200 million in China and Indonesia have modernized production, reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.
The company also advanced wastewater treatment at its global sites, including a major upgrade in the UK expected to cut emissions by up to 80%.
Lenzing launched several sustainable innovations in 2024, including hydrophobic cellulose fibers for hygiene products, waterless dyeing technology with Exponent Envirotech, and TENCEL™-based shoe materials in collaboration with Recyc Leather. Notably, the “Glacial Threads” project received an award at CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards for merging glacier protection with textile recycling.
Additionally, Lenzing is advancing circular economy models through the CELLFIL project and a large-scale textile recycling initiative with Södra, supported by EU funding.
Lenzing’s efforts earned it top sustainability ratings, including platinum from EcoVadis, an “A” rating from MSCI, and top rank in Canopy’s Hot Button Ranking.
