Waterless dyeing method called ECOHUES has been introduced to wood-based cellulosic fibers by Lenzing Group, a major global producer of wood-based specialty fibers, in collaboration with technology start-up Exponent Envirotech. This process can be used on cotton and linen yarns and is seen to be a potential substitute for traditional water-based dyeing.

is used on cellulosic fibers that have been approved with the EU Ecolabel for environmental excellence, such as the lyocell and modal fibers under the TENCEL brand and the viscose fibers under the LENZING ECOVERO brand. The dynamic trio, together with Cobalt Fashion, an innovative knitwear manufacturer based in Hong Kong, is poised to introduce the scientific discovery to the mainstream textile industry.

“At Lenzing, we work closely with partners to find creative solutions that guarantee product quality while also attempting to use fewer resources on the world. Rex Mok, Director of Technical Marketing and Development, Global Textiles Business.

ECOHUES : a creative fix that guarantees color vibrancy and increases resource efficiency3. In the traditional dyeing procedure, 120 tons of water are needed for every ton of yarn. Pretreatment, water-based coloring, cleaning, and finishing are typically done in an environment with a lot of chemicals.
