Lenskart Introduces Shunya Eyewear Collection Inspired by Indian Music
Lenskart has introduced Shunya, a new eyewear collection inspired by the sound and soul of Indian music.
The collection is part of Indian Accents, Lenskart’s family of collections celebrating Indian culture and heritage. It features 37 eyeglass and sunglass styles and arrives ahead of the festive season.
To celebrate Shunya, Lenskart is also launching Lenskart Live: Sounds of Shunya. The five-day music event will bring together 10 artists for five evenings of live performances.
The performances will stream exclusively on the Lenskart app from 8 to 12 October, between 7 pm and 8 pm each evening.
Shunya Connects Music and Eyewear
Shunya explores the connection between Indian music, culture and design.
The collection takes inspiration from the idea of Shunya, or zero. In Indian thought, Shunya represents a meditative space from which sound and creation emerge.
Using this idea, Lenskart has translated elements of Indian music into contemporary eyewear. These include rhythm, instruments and cultural motifs.
The collection features 37 styles across eyeglasses and sunglasses. Heritage-inspired details appear across modern silhouettes, with elements inspired by the sitar, flute and lotus.
The collection is now available across Lenskart stores and on the Lenskart app.
Lenskart Live: Sounds of Shunya
The launch also marks the introduction of Lenskart Live, a new format designed to bring the stories behind Lenskart collections to customers through live experiences.
For Shunya, the story begins with Indian music. The programme brings together contemporary bhajans, classical and Carnatic traditions, as well as modern interpretations of traditional sounds.
“Indian music has an incredible ability to evolve while staying connected to its roots. We see that today in the way a new generation is experiencing everything from bhajans and classical music to contemporary interpretations of traditional sounds. Shunya draws from that same spirit, translating elements of Indian music into contemporary eyewear. With Lenskart Live, we want to take the stories behind our collections beyond the frames and create experiences that people can participate in and enjoy.” said Lenskart Spokesperson.
From Contemporary Bhajans to Classical Sounds
The five-day celebration features different expressions of Indian music.
The programme begins with the growing contemporary bhajan movement. Backstage Siblings, Prachi and Raghav Agarwal, have developed their format of “bhajan jamming”.
Since starting in 2024, the duo has performed more than 300 shows across over 50 cities. Their performances turn devotional music into energetic community sing-alongs.
The vocal line-up includes Arunita Kanjilal, Iham Kavyam Experience by Kavya Ajit, Anushka Gouttam and Vishwajeet Borwankar.
Their performances span classical, Carnatic, acoustic, Sufi, ghazal and contemporary sounds.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Raghvan and Shravan Sridhar bring Carnatic music into an experimental setting. They combine electronic production with electric violin.
The instrumental line-up features Nandini Shankar on violin, Swayam on sitar, Varsh Jain on flute and Ved Prajapati on tabla.
Together, the artists explore Indian classical traditions and their contemporary interpretations.
Indian Accents Celebrates Indian Culture
Shunya is part of Indian Accents, Lenskart’s collection family focused on Indian culture and heritage.
Alongside Shunya, Lenskart is also introducing Indus. The collection celebrates India’s ancient art of metal craftsmanship.
Through Indian Accents, Lenskart gives familiar cultural influences a contemporary expression through eyewear. Each collection explores a different source of inspiration.
For Shunya, that inspiration comes from music. Its forms, instruments and motifs are interpreted through modern eyewear design.
