LANXESS Leads European Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index 2026

LANXESS AG has once again been recognised among the world’s leading sustainable chemical companies, securing first place in Europe and fifth globally in the latest Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index under the Chemicals category.

The specialty chemicals company achieved strong scores across several sustainability indicators, including climate strategy, water management, human rights, and product stewardship, reinforcing its long-term commitment to responsible business practices.

Commenting on the achievement, Matthias Zachert stated that sustainability remains deeply embedded within the company’s corporate strategy despite challenging economic conditions. He noted that international recognition in areas such as climate protection, resource efficiency, and corporate governance strengthens the company’s credibility with investors, customers, and business partners.

In addition to its Dow Jones ranking, LANXESS also received an upgraded sustainability rating from Sustainalytics. The company moved from the “Medium Risk” category to “Low Risk” with a score of 19.6 points, placing it among the top 4 percent of companies in the Specialty Chemicals segment and the top 6 percent within the global chemical industry.

Other global sustainability assessment organisations have also recognised LANXESS in recent months. CDP included the company on its prestigious “A List” for climate protection, while its water management initiatives received an “A-” rating. Sustainability ratings platform EcoVadis also reaffirmed LANXESS’ Gold status, awarding the company 83 out of 100 points.

LANXESS continues to advance its sustainability roadmap with ambitious long-term climate targets. The company aims to achieve climate neutrality in production and energy consumption by 2040, while targeting climate neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050.

The company’s strategy combines environmental responsibility with operational performance and strong corporate governance, positioning LANXESS as a key sustainability leader within the global specialty chemicals sector.
