Lakmé Fashion Week, in collaboration with FDCI since 2012, has been at the forefront of promoting
sustainable fashion and introducing groundbreaking designers to the Indian fashion landscape. The
upcoming edition of this platform, scheduled to take place in New Delhi in October, will feature a
dedicated Sustainable Fashion Day on October 12, 2023.

The Sustainable Fashion Day will showcase designs from various sustainable fashion pioneers, including Amit Gupta Sustainable, Swatti Kapoor, Kaveri, Swati Vijaivargie, Ka-Sha, Verandah, 11.11/eleven eleven, Payal Pratap, Abraham & Thakore, and R|Elan. This marks over a decade of Lakmé Fashion Week facilitating profound discussions and offering a stage for design disruptors to present their creations on Sustainable Fashion Day. In this season, as in the past, the event aims to spotlight talented designers and their innovative work, driving mindful design forward. Harman Dhillon, Vice President of Skin Care & Color Cosmetics at Hindustan Unilever Limited, expressed pride in providing a platform for these designers and their impactful designs. Designers Payal Pratap’s collection, named ‘The Soft Parade,’ pays homage to the rich crafts of the Kutch region, bringing traditional crafts into a modern context. The collection features handwoven khadi cotton, handloom linens, silks, chanderis, and bandhani prints, exploring patchwork and abstract motifs in a contemporary manner.

R|Elan is set to present the Circular Design Challenge (CDC) in collaboration with the United Nations in India, providing a platform for young fashion designers and entrepreneurs to showcase circularity-driven products and innovations in the fashion and textile industry. Over recent months, the CDC has scoured the globe for innovative designers, collaborating with global partners such as the British Council, Istitu to Marangoni, and Redress. These innovators selected for the CDC Batch of 2023 will showcase their collections at the show, presenting a diverse array of sustainable fashion innovations. The winning designer will not only have a solo showcase at the next fashion week but also receive seed funding and mentorship from Orsola De Castro and the Estethica team, offering promising prospects for the future of fashion.
