The Chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Committee, Manoj Kumar, declared during a Samwad discussion at the Mumbai headquarters that the ‘New Khadi of new India’ will reach unprecedented heights under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
KVIC declared in a news statement that “a comprehensive roadmap has been prepared to take Khadi from local to global.” The Khadi Village Industries Commission is also developing a number of programs to help craftsmen advance their skills. These initiatives are aimed at achieving success in the local industrial and employment sectors.
Additionally, the organization is preparing to introduce the “Silai Samriddhi Yojana” program for women in the near future, which will increase women’s employment by providing possibilities for specialized labor.
According to KVIC, sales of Khadi items have increased fourfold, which has directly improved the financial circumstances of rural craftsmen. Additionally, the organization found that during the previous ten years, the incomes of craftsmen had increased by 233%.
