This Fall, kate spade new york embraces a city adventure, and the serendipitous moments that lead us somewhere—or to something—amazing. We’re also celebrating our 30th anniversary all year long: the ultimate adventure.

Who: Notable attendees included: Emma Roberts (Actress, “Scream Queens”), Quinta Brunson (actress, “Abbott Elementary”) Haley Lu Richardson (actress, “White Lotus”), Lana Condor (actress, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”), Ziwe (comedian and television personality), Alyah Chanelle Scott (Actress, “Sex Lives of College Girls”), Brandice Daniel (Founder and CEO, Harlem’s Fashion Row), Whitney Port (author and television personality), Tayshia Adams (television personality); and influencers, Madeleine White, Charles Gross, Simi Muhumuza, Taylor Hage, Dylan Mulvaney, Mary Lawless Lee, Kate Bartlett, and more.

WHAT: kate spade new york today unveiled its Fall 2023 collection with a presentation during New York Fashion Week at NYC’s famed landmark, the Whitney Museum of American Art.  kate spade new york has been rooted in culture and art since the beginning, and the Fall 2023 collection is an artful expression of how we see the season, all with a kate spade twist.

The collection – designed by Tom Mora, SVP and Head of Design, RTW and Lifestyle Categories, and Jennifer Lyu, SVP and Head of Design, Leather Goods and Accessories – highlights the joy of dressing in a way that feels eclectic, colorful and fresh. There’s a focus on heritage design elements – geometric patterns, crisp colors, craft – infused with the unexpected.

Graphic prints are seen across categories – abstract patterns on midi dresses, relaxed skirts and easy tees that bring a modern sensibility to the collection. Vibrant brights play big, too. Satin suits in our newly minted kate spade green and fire engine red; playful pieces in hot pink and lemon—even faux fur outerwear turns up in technicolor. Fluid sequin numbers—shimmery pants suits and shifts—add a unique sense of flair.

“The Fall 2023 narrative evokes the universal feeling of joy that the season brings – a renewed sense of energy. It’s like a blank canvas, the beginning of something new,” shared Tom Mora and Jennifer Lyu. “There’s an excitement about getting back to a routine and getting dressed again…whether meeting friends for drinks, discovering a new restaurant, or stumbling upon an art exhibit, this collection celebrates these moments in everyday life and the unexpected that can happen.”

To give access to its larger digital community, kate spade new york has partnered with notable TikTok creators, Charles Gross and Madeleine White, to co-host a livestream that will offer behind-the-scenes access to New York Fashion Week through their own creative lenses. The livestream will be broadcast across the brand’s TikTok, Instagram and Facebook channels, as well as on katespade.com.

Guests were greeted at the Whitney with a fleet of signature New York City taxis, all wrapped in the brand’s newly minted Pantone color – kate spade green – that will drive throughout Manhattan during New York Fashion Week from February 10-16. Upon entering the museum, guests were ushered to the third floor and into the presentation space where the new collection was on display against a backdrop of the Hudson River. Musical performers from the Julliard School filled the space with a mashup of music, creating a custom soundscape that embodied the seasonal narrative.

The guest journey ended at the kate spade new york gift shop – an adjacent room fully covered from floor to ceiling in the brand’s new signature kate spade green. Intrinsic to the kate spade DNA, the color green has been at the heart of the brand since the beginning. A modern ode to that heritage, kate spade green evokes the spirit of possibility and optimism that the brand has been known for the past 30 years.

As part of kate spade’s partnership with Harlem’s Fashion Row and the organization’s annual HBCU Fashion Summit, the brand also welcomed Brandice Daniel and a group of students from Bowie State University – Maryland’s oldest Historically Black University – to offer front-row access to New York Fashion Week.  The year-long partnership, which just kicked off its second semester in January, provides students with unique access to engage with kate spade new york’s team of executive leaders and designers.  The HBCU Fashion Summit is a program first launched by Harlem’s Fashion Row in 2020, and is intended to transform the art and fashion programs at HBCUs across America by providing students with direct design expertise from industry experts.
