Jitin Prasada, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, inaugurated the Customs Export-Import Facilitation Centre (CEIFC) at SEEPZ-SEZ in Mumbai, marking a significant step towards improving trade facilitation and export operations within the special economic zone.

The inauguration ceremony was hosted by Dnyaneshwar B. Patil, Zonal Development Commissioner, SEEPZ-SEZ. Senior officials in attendance included Mayur R. Mankar and Sandip D. Bhosale.

Prominent industry representatives present at the event included Kirit Bhansali, Shaunak Parikh, Adil Kotwal, Colin Shah, and Vijay Gujarathi.

Speaking at the inauguration, Jitin Prasada highlighted the importance of modernising trade infrastructure to support India’s growing export ambitions. He noted that the facility would particularly benefit small exporters by improving logistics efficiency and expediting customs clearances, thereby strengthening India’s competitiveness in global markets.

The new CEIFC has been developed as a modern single-window facility that consolidates key customs-related processes under one roof. The centre includes dedicated infrastructure for customs examinations, secure handling of high-value consignments, and support for e-commerce operations, helping streamline export-import procedures for businesses operating within SEEPZ.

During the event, Kirit Bhansali welcomed the government’s approval for FTWZ Broad-Banding at the Bharat Ratnam Mega CFC, describing it as a significant development for India’s gem and jewellery sector. He noted that the initiative would facilitate international warehousing, product showcasing, and exhibitions, creating new business opportunities for MSMEs while enhancing India’s position as a global hub for gem and jewellery manufacturing and trade.

The inauguration of the Customs Export-Import Facilitation Centre reinforces the government’s ongoing efforts to improve trade infrastructure, simplify export processes, and strengthen India’s export ecosystem through world-class facilities and streamlined operations.
