The “Hiranyagarbha” collection by designer Gaurav Gupta was on display on the evening of July 27 at the 16th India Couture Week in New Delhi. Following Gupta’s recent runway show in Paris, France, the collection contrasted flowing lines with dramatic volume, rich sparkle, and dramatic volume with opulent lines.

Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor closed the show, which was presented by DLF Emporio. She wore a dark blue lehenga with a transparent cloak. The collection’s modern version of traditional crafts was exemplified by the monochrome aesthetic, which incorporated exquisite beading to generate movement. The males donned richly coloured velvet suits with sparkling accents, while the female models walked down the futuristic runway in shades of white, citrine, emerald, and royal blue.

The name of the collection, Hiranyagarbha, which Gupta showed at Paris Couture Week’s autumn/winter 2024, alludes to the golden womb from whence the universe emerges. In addition to Gupta’s traditional form-fitting dresses, the Parisian version of the collection also included evening wear suits, hooded gowns, and voluminous shrugs for a more subversive, fusion wear feel.

The Fashion Design Council of India organised 16 designers to present a collection at the Taj Palace in New Delhi for the 16th iteration of India Couture Week. Hyundai is the event’s sponsor, and it takes place from July 25 to August 2. Ritu Kumar, Suneet Varma, Dolly J, and Falguni Shane Peacock are a few of the participating designers in this event that is sponsored by Reliance Brands Limited.
