Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics 2026 concluded on a strong note, reinforcing its position as a key sourcing and innovation platform for South China’s textile and apparel industry. Held alongside Yarn Expo Shenzhen and PH Value, the three-day event welcomed more than 20,000 visits from buyers representing 74 markets, highlighting increased international participation and growing interest in sustainable and technology-driven textile solutions.

The exhibition featured nearly 620 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive showcase of advanced materials, heritage textiles, and innovative manufacturing solutions. The fair also introduced new knowledge-sharing initiatives, including the Future Horizons Forum and Innovation Studio, both focused on sustainability, advanced materials, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in textiles.

According to Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Shenzhen’s strategic location within the Greater Bay Area, its strong manufacturing ecosystem, improved accessibility, and China’s visa-free initiatives have further strengthened the city’s appeal as an international textile business destination. She noted that the event’s repositioning towards innovation has significantly enhanced its value for exhibitors and visitors alike.

The Future Horizons Forum brought together academics and industry experts from institutions including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), and Wuyi University to discuss sustainability, emerging materials, and AI applications across the textile value chain. Complementing the forum, the Innovation Studio showcased collaborative projects developed with educational institutions and industry partners.

Dr Eve Nwaogu Chan, Programme Leader of Fashion Design at THEi, said the event reflects Shenzhen’s growing identity as a hub for smart materials, sustainable chemistry, functional textiles, and digital manufacturing. She added that the exhibition plays an important role in strengthening collaboration across the Greater Bay Area while connecting domestic and international stakeholders working towards the future of fashion and textiles.

The exhibition attracted leading international buyers from brands including Adidas, American Eagle, Lululemon, and SIDEFAME, alongside major Chinese fashion companies such as Annakiki, CHLOSIO, and Ellassay. International buyer delegations from Southeast Asia, including organisations from Malaysia and Thailand, further reinforced the fair’s global sourcing appeal.

Visitors praised the event’s combination of innovative materials and established textile suppliers. Malique Mohamud, CEO of Dutch consultancy The Niteshop / Concrete Blossom, highlighted the value of the business matching programme, noting that it enabled multiple high-quality supplier connections within a short period while supporting the company’s circular fashion initiatives.

Exhibitors also reported encouraging business activity throughout the exhibition.

Shanghai Cavallo 1886 Ltd., representing Peru’s Incalpaca TPX SA, reported strong buyer traffic, particularly from South China, where demand for premium natural fibres continues to grow.

Germany-based Global Standard gemeinnützige GmbH highlighted increasing interest in sustainable fibres such as kapok following its technical presentations during the event.

Japanese exhibitor Kirari Textile (Shanghai) Co Ltd noted that the Greater Bay Area’s demand for premium products and flexible order quantities aligns well with its inventory-based business model, while Vietnam’s Henglun Textile observed a noticeable increase in international visitors compared with previous editions.

Buyers also appreciated the diversity of exhibitors. Guangdong Bincai Textile Co Ltd said the event enabled the company to reconnect with existing suppliers while discovering new sourcing opportunities, including textile manufacturers from India.

Industry organisations also viewed the exhibition as an important platform for emerging materials. Sharon Diedre Leyson, Secretary-General of the Asia International Hemp Federation (AIHF), described the event as an effective venue for promoting hemp-based innovations across industries ranging from apparel to automotive composites and bioplastics.

Intertextile Shenzhen Apparel Fabrics continues to position itself as a platform for showcasing new technologies, sustainable materials, and innovative business models through exhibitions, seminars, and industry forums that support the future development of the global textile sector.

The exhibition was organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, Messe Frankfurt (Shenzhen) Co Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center. The next editions of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Autumn Edition and Yarn Expo Autumn will be held from 25–27 August 2026 in Shanghai, followed by the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies from 24–26 February 2027 in Ho Chi Minh City.
