The Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition opened this week, bringing together more than 3,000 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions across seven halls at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 11–13 March 2026.

Beyond the exhibition floor, the event features an extensive fringe programme including the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, seminars, panel discussions and curated display areas. These activities reflect the show’s four key themes: fashion forward, performance textiles, sustainability and textile future.

According to Wilmet Shea, the fair aims to support industry collaboration and market opportunities.

“There are many responsibilities to consider when organising a show of this scale, yet our main priority remains to effectively facilitate business between exhibitors and buyers. As such, we have curated a variety of provisions that relate to segments with high potential – such as the non-traditional offering of our new Pet Boutique display area, or the expanded, seminar-integrated Econogy Hub and Functional Lab.”

Global Participation and International Pavilions

The Spring Edition welcomes new exhibiting countries including Austria, Denmark, Indonesia, Lithuania and Norway.

International exhibitors are largely located in Hall 5.1, featuring several country and regional pavilions along with specialised zones such as:

  • Econogy Hub

  • Essential Suits & Shirts

  • Functional Lab

  • Premium Wool Zone

  • SalonEurope

  • Verve for Design

Additional zones including Accessories Vision (Hall 1.2) and Beyond Denim (Hall 7.2) also host international participants.

Fashion Forward: Trends and Design Innovation

Fashion continues to be a core focus of the exhibition. International pavilions present diverse fabric concepts ranging from heritage-inspired prints and genderless fabrics to luxury menswear and womenswear textiles.

The Japan Pavilion features its “Temporal Space” Trend Corner, while the France Zone showcases commercially driven womenswear fabrics. The Italy Pavilion highlights luxury menswear materials.

The fringe programme includes design and trend seminars such as the Intertextile Trends Spring/Summer 2027 Seminar, led by Sachiko Inoue, exploring the season’s theme PARADOX.

Additional presentations are hosted by global trend authorities including:

  • Pantone Color Institute

  • PeclersParis

  • WGSN

Performance Textiles Driving Sportswear Growth

Performance textiles represent another major segment of the show, reflecting the growth of sportswear in the Chinese fashion market.

Asian pavilions, particularly the Korea Pavilion, showcase functional fabrics designed for sports, golf and outdoor applications, including materials with antibacterial, stretch and durability properties.

The Functional Lab zone has expanded by more than 30 percent, featuring an integrated product presentation stage called THE CUBE.

Companies presenting innovations include:

  • Baur Vliesstoffe

  • Sunshinetex

Seminars also highlight developments such as circular polyester innovations by Unifi and dope-dyed acetate yarn solutions from DP Acetate.

Sustainability Takes Centre Stage

Sustainability is a key pillar of the exhibition through the Econogy Hub, a dedicated platform for eco-friendly textiles, certification systems and traceability solutions.

Participants include organisations and companies such as:

  • Ecocert

  • TextileGenesis

  • Lenzing

The Econogy Talks programme explores sustainability topics including circular fashion and responsible sourcing, with sessions moderated by Redress.

Textile Future: Digitalisation and Emerging Markets

The textile future theme highlights digital innovation, smart materials and new market opportunities.

The Taiwan Pavilion showcases companies specialising in nano textiles and precision manufacturing, including Hi-Tec Industrial and Orientex Precision Industrial.

A notable new feature is the Pet Boutique, a display area dedicated to pet fashion textiles and accessories, reflecting the rapid growth of the pet apparel market in China.

Participating exhibitors include Lenzing, Idole, and SilkİPEK Tekstil.

A Comprehensive Textile Industry Platform

In addition to international exhibitors in Hall 5.1, Chinese suppliers are located across multiple halls featuring accessories, suiting fabrics, sportswear textiles, casualwear and denim.

The fair is co-organised by:
