Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition 2026 delivered a strong performance despite ongoing trade and travel uncertainties, reaffirming its position as a key global platform for innovation, sourcing, and industry exchange. Held from 11 to 13 March 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, the fair attracted over 96,000 visitors from 119 countries and regions, alongside more than 3,000 exhibitors showcasing forward-looking textiles for the Spring/Summer 2027 season.
The event highlighted advancements in sustainability, digitalisation, and functional textiles, with expanded zones such as the Functional Lab and The CUBE drawing significant footfall. Across the venue, curated displays and fringe programming enabled new materials and process innovations to reach a wider global audience.
Speaking at the close of the fair, Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said:
“The market landscape is presenting several challenges, yet the industry continues to put its faith in Intertextile Apparel – this is indicated by our excellent exhibitor return rate and steady visitor flow, with international participation remaining strong. It is clear China is helping to pave the way for the fashion industry’s functional, digital, and sustainable evolution, which makes this flagship fair – one of the biggest in the world for apparel textiles – crucial for global exchange across traditional and emerging markets.”
International participation remained robust, with over 60% of overseas exhibitors returning and new participants contributing to overall growth. The fair featured eight themed zones, seven country and regional pavilions, and three group pavilions, while structured business matching sessions and guided tours enhanced sourcing efficiency for VIP buyers and international delegations.
The extensive fringe programme further enriched the experience, hosting over 50 events attended by more than 4,500 participants. Around 1,500 textile samples were showcased across key platforms such as the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum, Econogy Hub, Pet Boutique, and Functional Lab, enabling quick comparison of trend-driven innovations.
Sustainability and material innovation remained central themes. Companies like Lenzing leveraged the platform to strengthen their presence in China, with growing consumer awareness around TENCEL™ fibres and increasing interest in bio-based and functional textiles. Emerging segments such as pet textiles also gained traction, reflecting evolving consumer spending patterns.
