Intertextile Apparel Unveils New Identity for Spring 2027

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics has announced a renewed brand identity for its Spring Edition 2027, introducing the slogan ‘Shape the Movement’ to reflect the exhibition’s evolving role in shaping global textile and apparel trends. Scheduled for 10 to 12 March 2027, the event will bring together industry stakeholders to explore design innovation, cultural exchange, functional textiles, sustainability and international business opportunities.

The updated positioning reinforces Intertextile Apparel’s role as a platform for identifying emerging trends, facilitating industry collaboration and supporting commercial growth across the textile value chain. Several high-potential segments have been identified for further development at the upcoming edition.

The exhibition’s four key themes, Fashion Forward, Textile Future, Performance Textiles and Sustainability, will continue to address changing global market demands, with performance-based solutions and sustainable innovation receiving particular attention.

Ms Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, said: “Shaping the industry’s movement is exactly what this fair does, at every edition. The new slogan is a nod to Intertextile Apparel’s unmatched influence in determining what vast numbers of global consumers want to wear, how they want to wear it, and how industry players can make that happen. This is the latest in our efforts to update the fair’s branding, to reflect its evolution as a platform that facilitates the development of not only trade, but also high-growth trends and movements like performance-based, sustainable innovation.”

Circularity and Certification Drive Textile Innovation

The exhibition will take place alongside four concurrent trade fairs at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, bringing together thousands of exhibitors across yarns and fibres, apparel fabrics, fashion, knitwear and home textiles.

Functionality and sustainability are emerging as shared priorities across these segments. Regulatory developments in key markets are also increasing the importance of certified materials, traceability and circular production practices.

In Europe, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is establishing a framework for sustainability and performance requirements across product categories. These developments are encouraging textile suppliers and apparel manufacturers serving European markets to strengthen compliance, certification and traceability practices.

Reflecting on the previous Spring Edition, Mr Rainer Roten, CEO of TESTEX AG, said: “The industry is accelerating its evolution towards digitilisation, traceability, and the circular economy, and our core value lies in providing in-depth support that aligns perfectly – from testing services to ensure export compliance, to dissemination of trend information – empowering our clients to stay ahead. This fair brings together buyers from around the world, particularly from our core Asian market, enabling us to connect with many potential and existing partners in one location. Despite our global recognition, we still regard this as a vital platform for client engagement.”

Performance Textiles and Sustainability Gain Momentum

The 2026 Spring Edition attracted more than 3,000 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions and over 96,000 visitors representing 119 markets. Performance-oriented and environmentally focused solutions featured prominently, with Functional Lab and Econogy Hub recording notable expansions in exhibition space.

For 2027, both zones are expected to provide further opportunities for exhibitors to showcase materials and technologies addressing growing demand for functional, sustainable and comfortable apparel, particularly in sportswear and outdoor clothing.

Functional Lab and Econogy Hub will again feature integrated presentation and display areas. Hall 5.1 will also host the returning Pet Boutique, showcasing functional and sustainable garments, fabrics and accessories for China’s expanding pet apparel market.

The CUBE, Functional Lab’s dedicated display area, will spotlight performance textiles through four categories making their Spring Edition debut: Thermal Regulation, Moisture Management, Comfort + Sustainability, and Protection.

Highlighting the growing convergence of functionality and sustainability, Ms Eva Zhu, Fabric Business Unit/Vice Director from Hyosung International Trade (Jiaxing), said last March: “We are actively strategising to combine sustainability with functional fabrics – investing in an integrated factory in Vietnam to develop bio-based spandex, and creating various recycled materials in China. Intertextile Apparel is an excellent platform to acquire customers, promote our products and brand, and hold in-depth discussions. This Spring Edition has truly exceeded our expectations so far. As well as meeting existing European and American clients, numerous new buyers showed strong interest. Global demand for functional fabrics is rising, especially in China, driven by consumer desire for healthy lifestyles and sports.”

Trend Forecasting and Industry Knowledge in Focus

Alongside the exhibition stands, Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Spring Edition 2027 will present a comprehensive fringe programme designed to support knowledge-sharing and business development.

Key highlights will include the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum for Spring/Summer 2028, market-focused display areas, seminars, panel discussions and product presentations. Sessions will cover design and trends, market information and business strategies, sustainability issues, and technology and solutions.

These activities will provide industry professionals with opportunities to explore emerging consumer preferences, assess new material technologies and understand the commercial implications of sustainability and functionality across the textile sector.

The exhibition is co-organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT, and the China Textile Information Center.

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Spring Edition will run alongside Yarn Expo Spring, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, creating a platform covering multiple segments of the textile and apparel value chain.
