International Woolmark Prize Opens Applications for Next Global Edition

Woolmark has officially opened applications for the next edition of the International Woolmark Prize (IWP), inviting emerging designers from around the world to compete in one of the fashion industry’s most prestigious awards celebrating innovation and creativity in Australian Merino wool.

For more than 70 years, the International Woolmark Prize has served as a launchpad for some of fashion’s most renowned designers, including Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino Garavani, Rahul Mishra and Gabriela Hearst. The programme continues to recognise excellence in design while promoting craftsmanship, innovation and the versatility of Australian Merino wool.

For its latest edition, Woolmark has broadened the eligibility criteria to reflect the changing nature of careers in the fashion industry. In addition to independent designers, the Prize now welcomes professionals who have built their expertise within established fashion brands and organisations, recognising the valuable experience gained in leading collections, driving product innovation and shaping brand strategy.

The updated approach acknowledges that creative talent today often develops through multiple career pathways, with many designers choosing to work within established fashion houses rather than launching their own labels.

Following the application process, selected participants will take part in a series of discovery and incubation programmes aimed at strengthening both their creative and commercial capabilities. The finalists will also gain access to industry mentors, expert guidance and Woolmark’s global network of fashion professionals.

Through the International Woolmark Prize, Woolmark continues to support emerging design talent while highlighting the performance, innovation and sustainability credentials of Australian Merino wool.

Applications for the next global cycle are now open.
