Industry body: The B2B garment meet in Kolkata involves a commerce of Rs 1,000 crore.

A group of West Bengali clothing producers and dealers said on Thursday that a three-day business-to-business expo generated Rs 1,000 crore in revenue from wholesale deals.

Over 950 national and international businesses participated in the 56th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet and Business-to-Business Expo, which ended on July 3. More than 2,500 people registered for the event, according to West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association president Hari Kishan Rathi.

Currently, this industry is among the biggest in the world, directly and indirectly employing about 55 lakh people. 950 domestic and international brands participated, and an estimated Rs 1,000 crore worth of commercial deals were completed, according to Rathi.

The exhibition was acknowledged as the oldest in the history of the local apparel industry.
