India’s urban unemployment rate at 6.7%.

The urban unemployment rate in India for those aged 15 and above decreased slightly from 6.8% to 6.7% in the first quarter of this year. The rate for females also saw a decline from 9.2% to 8.5% in the same period. Additionally, the labor force participation rate in urban areas increased from 48.5% to 50.2% during the same time frame, as per the Periodic Labour Force Survey.

In urban areas, the female labor force participation rate increased from 22.7% in Q1 2023 to 25.6% in Q1 2024, showing a rising trend. The worker population ratio for individuals aged 15 and above also increased from 45.2% to 46.9% in the same period, with female WPR in urban areas rising from 20.6% to 23.4%.
