India proudly served as the official partner country at INHORGENTA 2025, reinforcing its position as a global leader in the gem and jewellery industry. Held from February 21-24, the event saw the inauguration of the India Pavilion by Shatrughna Sinha (IFS, Consul General of India, Munich), Kirit Bhansali (Chairman, GJEPC), Stefan Rummel (CEO, Messe München), and Stefanie Maendlein (Exhibition Director, INHORGENTA).
Curated by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the India Pavilion showcased a breathtaking selection of diamond, gold, and platinum jewellery, along with fine jewellery and loose gemstones. The display underscored India’s expertise in fusing traditional artistry with modern design, offering global buyers exceptional quality and creativity.
Strengthening Global Ties
Speaking at the inauguration, Shatrughna Sinha emphasized Germany’s significance as one of India’s top European trade partners, with bilateral trade reaching USD 33.33 billion in 2023. He highlighted India’s 500-year-old economic and cultural ties with Germany, noting that this partnership would foster new collaborations and unlock fresh business opportunities.
India’s Jewellery Industry on the Rise
GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali reiterated India’s global reputation for manufacturing excellence and its evolving role as a technology and design hub. With USD 32 billion in jewellery exports to key markets—including the USA, Europe, and the Middle East—India is driving innovation, skill development, and global standards.
Bhansali also highlighted India’s diamond promotion efforts, including partnerships with De Beers and Chow Tai Fook for marketing campaigns in China. Additionally, GJEPC’s collaboration with De Beers has launched INDRA – Indian Natural Diamond Retailer Alliance, a B2B initiative aimed at boosting diamond jewellery sales in India.
A Celebration of Craftsmanship & Culture
INHORGENTA 2025 featured the India Experience Lounge, offering visitors an immersive journey into India’s heritage. The lounge blended exquisite jewellery, Manchaha Rugs, Kashmiri Kahwa, Masala Chai, the aroma of sandalwood, and the melodic strains of the Sitar—creating a sensory celebration of India’s artistry.
Additionally, the Brand India Gallery presented award-winning jewellery masterpieces from the Artisan Jewellery Design Awards, showcasing India’s unmatched talent and innovation.
A panel discussion, “The Rising Indian Jewellery Influence in the Global Landscape,” featured renowned industry experts Alice Cicolini (UK-based jewellery designer) and Radhika Somaia (brand architect and jewellery curator), highlighting India’s expanding impact on the global market.
Beyond showcasing exquisite jewellery, partnering with India means accessing ethically sourced, technologically advanced, and artisan-crafted creations—a testament to India’s leadership in quality, innovation, and design.
