India is set to further deepen its trade ties with Australia through strong participation in the upcoming Global Sourcing Expo Sydney, scheduled for 17–19 July 2025. With the final pavilion spots now open at subsidised rates, Indian exporters are encouraged to secure their place and tap into a key international sourcing platform.
The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and the Wool and Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) are backing national pavilions, reinforcing India’s long-standing engagement with the Expo, which has seen notable success in its Melbourne edition.
Following a 43% surge in footfall at last year’s Sydney event, this year’s edition is poised for even greater reach, attracting buyers from Sydney, NSW, and Queensland. The Expo offers Indian exporters access to a fast-growing consumer market and positions them in front of Australia’s top retail and sourcing professionals.
Why this matters for Indian exporters:
-
Australia is the world’s second-largest textile and apparel consumer per capita.
-
Under the Australia-India ECTA, 96% of Indian goods now enter tariff-free, with full liberalization set for January 1, 2026.
-
India is widely recognised for its sustainable, high-quality textile offerings.
-
Continued support from FIEO and WWEPC enhances brand visibility and networking opportunities.
Suresh Thakur, Executive Director of WWEPC, stated:
“This Expo is a vital platform for India’s woollen sector. With tariff benefits under CEPA and growing interest in sustainable products, the event opens new doors for collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region. We welcome buyers to experience the innovation and excellence of Indian woollens.”
