The ‘Barbiecore’ style is one of the trendiest fashion fads that have sparked the sartorial landscape this year. Pink has always been a popular color in fashion, but wearing it in a particularly vivid and bright shade that resembles the design of the original Mattel doll is the newest trend among both celebrities and fans. Curiously, the pattern coincides with the mounting interest in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming 2023 film Barbie, which stars Margot Robbie in the title role and Ryan Gosling as Ken.

However, the 2020 Valentino Fall runway show, nicknamed Valentino Pink PP, helped this trend gain more prominence as celebrities were seen wearing the brilliant colour on several different occasions.

Designer Masaba Gupta joined the trend even though it was mainly restricted to foreign celebrities and western clothing, but in her own distinctive desi fashion. She created a #RaniCore chanderi cotton sari and arm warmer blouse for one of her recent appearances. The strong text “Where is the Masaba print” inscribed on the pallu, which alludes to the designer’s characteristic prints that are typically embossed on each of her ensembles, was what everyone noticed, though.

Masaba’s appearance did not just consist of a sari; it also had a Barbiecore style. The 33-year-old took it a step further and selected pink-rimmed Balenciaga sunglasses, velvet pink Christian Louboutin stilettos, and a dramatic pink lip color.

She posed for the photos holding a few pink balloons while wearing a neat hairstyle, a layered gold neckpiece, and studs to complete her outfit.
