The work of Bahareh Ardakani, the founder and creative director of ArdAzAei, is already generating excitement in the front row of fashion shows. Notable figures like reality TV star Lisa Rinna and actress Fan Bingbing have rushed backstage to express their admiration for the outfits presented.
However, the attention from celebrities did not overshadow the striking sculptural designs that Ardakani showcased on the runway. The collection, titled “The Diffraction of Light,” drew inspiration from her studies in gemology and served as a metaphor for the hidden mechanics that make couture truly shine.
A key focus of the collection was construction, even when elements like oversized bows or an abundance of ruffles were introduced. The most impactful looks were those where structure took precedence, whether through precise tailoring or the incorporation of intricate pleating and embroidery.
The show began with a captivating opening look featuring a high neck, strong shoulders, and a draped straight skirt. This silhouette set the tone for the collection, exuding strength and elegance. Another standout piece was a form-fitting dress with thin straps adorned with embroidered metal beads that resembled delicate chains cascading down the front. This attention to detail added a touch of luxury and visual interest to the ensemble.
Ardakani also showcased a slim suit crafted from a silk, cotton, and Lurex jacquard fabric. The suit featured a graphic pattern inspired by the atomic structure of beryls, creating a visually striking and unique design. This exemplified Ardakani’s ability to draw inspiration from diverse sources and translate them into distinctive couture creations.
