Malachai Spivey, a budding Brooklyn model and self-taught designer, debuted at New York Fashion Week with a presentation of his Human Nature Worldwide autumn/winter 2023 collection.
At Converse’s flagship Soho store, Spivey, who has dressed celebrities like Lil Nas X, Aleali May, and Coi Leray, unveiled his AW23 collection, which included one-of-a-kind pairs of the brand-new Chuck Taylor All-Star Construct silhouette.
Spivey’s distinct approach to fusing streetwear with avant-garde craftsmanship was on display at the presentation. Traditional suits were given a streetwear touch, and luxurious two-piece outfits were ornamented with fringe, lace embellishments, and skull and crossbones designs all throughout.
Other standout styles were frayed jeans with ruching, leather jackets with exquisite zipper detailing, and a striking camo two-piece styled underneath a fleece gilet.
Each pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Construct and Run Star Legacy CX displayed in the presentation were additionally customised by Spivey with lace, denim, and pearls.
“When it comes to Human Nature Worldwide, I like the idea of using classic styles or silhouettes but bringing them to life in a new way, so it was the perfect fit for me that the two brands work together,” said Human Nature Worldwide founder and creative designer Spivey in a statement about the collaboration with Converse.
