Heimtextil Debuts at Downtown Design Dubai with Trends 27/28

Heimtextil has partnered with Downtown Design for the first time to bring its latest interior design trends to the Middle East. The presentation, developed in collaboration with Milan-based design platform Alcova, showcases the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, titled ‘The Performance of Everyday Living’, at Downtown Design Dubai from 4 to 8 November 2026.

The compact presentation uses films, text and visual elements to introduce international and regional design professionals to the key themes and creative ideas shaping the upcoming trends.

Strengthening ties with the Middle East design industry

Downtown Design is the leading design fair in the Middle East and a key event of Dubai Design Week. The region’s expanding hospitality and design sectors are gaining importance in the global interiors industry. In particular, new hotel and design projects are increasing demand for innovative spatial concepts, quality materials and advanced textile solutions.

Through this partnership, Heimtextil aims to strengthen its presence in the region. It also brings international design perspectives to a market that continues to create new opportunities for the interiors and hospitality industries.

Mette Degn-Christensen, Director, Downtown Design, said: ‘Downtown Design stands for connectivity, relevance and quality: it is where the Middle East’s creative community comes together with the global design industry. This exchange connects international perspectives with the specific needs and experiences of the region’s design professionals. Heimtextil and Alcova bring complementary strengths in materials and craft-led experimentation – topics that are particularly relevant to our community at present – and combine them with a clear understanding of the commercial realities behind successful design,’

Exploring the Heimtextil Trends 27/28

The presentation focuses on the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, developed by Alcova under the theme ‘The Performance of Everyday Living’. The trends examine how spaces can offer greater functionality while improving everyday comfort and design quality.

This theme is relevant to residential interiors, hospitality and commercial design. It also raises an important question for the industry: how can interior spaces become more functional without compromising comfort or visual appeal?

For Heimtextil, the Dubai showcase is also an opportunity to build stronger connections with regional design professionals and hospitality stakeholders.

Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, Messe Frankfurt, said: ‘The Middle East is an important source of inspiration and momentum for interior design and hospitality. Dubai brings together an international design community, and in cooperation with Alcova, we are bringing our expertise in trends, materials and design to this audience. In doing so, we are taking Heimtextil’s themes beyond Frankfurt and connecting them with the perspectives of relevant partners in the Middle East,’
