After more than three decades, Hanover will once again host ITMA, the world’s largest textile and garment technology exhibition, from 16 to 22 September 2027. Set to cover 200,000 sqm across 13 halls at Messegelände Hannover, the event marks a major return since its last staging in the city in 1991.

The successful bid was led by Deutsche Messe with support from the City of Hanover and the Mayor’s Office. Mayor Belit Onay expressed pride in securing the event, highlighting the city’s efficient, green infrastructure and its appeal as a relaxed, modern trade fair destination.

Hanover boasts over 18,000 hotel beds, with 54,000 more available in the surrounding region. Visitors can also choose from about 4,000 private accommodations and a nearby campground. An additional 700 rooms will open in the city centre in 2026.

To simplify bookings, ITMA Services has appointed bnetwork as the official travel agent. The company brings past experience from ITMA Barcelona and will launch a dedicated site for participants.

Despite not being a major global hub, Hanover is well-connected via high-speed rail, an international airport, and public transport systems. The fairground features two light rail stations and 39,000 parking spaces.

Alex Zucchi, president of CEMATEX, affirmed that Hanover has the infrastructure to support the scale of ITMA and that planning is underway to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees. The ITMA 2027 website will launch in July, with exhibitor space applications opening in September.
