HairOriginals, Backed by Shark Tank India Investors, Sets Ambitious Plans for Global Expansion in Natural Hair Market

HairOriginals, the first direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand for 100% natural hair extensions and wigs in India, has achieved significant growth, expanding from three to 12 cities in 2023. The brand, supported by Shark Tank India Season 1 investors, plans to utilize its recent Pre Series A funding of $2.75 million to establish advanced experience centers in 25 top Indian cities by 2024. With a focus on becoming a market leader in the natural hair extension and wig segment, HairOriginals aims to leverage its network of certified stylists, natural products, and free trial installations.

The company has strategically partnered with well-known salons like Geetanjali and Naturals, enhancing its presence in the rapidly growing global natural hair extension market. HairOriginals, already delivering its products to over 30 countries, produces 100% human hair extensions, wigs, and toppers.

Jitendra Sharma, the Founder and CEO, expressed the global market’s size for human hair extensions and wigs surpassing $14 billion. Despite India being a major ethical source, most manufacturing is concentrated in China. HairOriginals is on a mission to produce natural, high-quality hair products in India for global consumption. The recent expansion aims to strengthen their domestic market presence for global positioning, aligning with the rising demand for “Made in India” products.

Since its inception in 2019, HairOriginals has raised $3 million and plans to utilize recent investments to solidify its position as the sole organized brand for natural hair extensions and wigs in the segment. Funds are allocated strategically to enhance augmented reality/virtual reality capabilities, improve customer shopping experiences, intensify marketing efforts, and expand the partner salon network.
