Since the first images of Margot Robbie as Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film surfaced last year, a number of celebrities have performed their best Barbie imitation. The #Barbiecore trend, which is expected to continue after the movie debuts on July 21, is gaining traction on the red carpet with vivid pinks, minidresses, and high heels becoming standard fare.
Hailey Bieber fully channelled Barbie on Thursday night when she celebrated the first anniversary of her beauty line Rhode. She donned a custom-made pink corset minidress by Vivienne Westwood Couture that had a plunging draped bodice, a delicate bow accent on the bodice and hip and glittering rose Swarovski crystals all over it.
Without a doubt, Bieber and her stylist Dani Michelle drew inspiration from Barbie for this outfit because even her high heels created the impression that her feet were arched and bare, much like the doll’s. Gianvito Rossi’s nude heels with perspex straps perfectly matched Bieber’s interpretation of Barbie’s characteristic “invisible heels”—her permanently pointed plastic feet.
