This autumn, the game of musical chairs is back in full gear, with plenty of transfers from one house to another. For example, Davide Buzzoni joined Gucci from Loro Piana, the LVMH textile and ready-to-wear label, where he was global PR & VIP director. His employment as global communications director has been confirmed by Kering’s main fashion brand.

The Italian will report to Alessio Vannetti, executive vice president and brand director. He would have “direct responsibility for press service activities worldwide and for corporate communications, ensuring a coherent message that is aligned with Gucci’s values and vision,” according to the firm, which is still in transition and fighting to recover. Sales fell 20% to €4 billion in the first half of the year, adding to the label’s slump.
Davide Buzzoni thus enters a precarious situation. In his new post, he will be able to leverage his extensive experience in luxury goods and public relations. Buzzoni was the global editorial manager at Moncler prior to joining Loro Piana in 2018. He graduated from Milan’s Statale University with a degree in communication sciences and has previously worked for Burberry and Prada.
He follows Benjamin Cercio, who departed in March. After fifteen years at Louis Vuitton, Cercio joined the Italian company at the end of 2022 as director of worldwide communications, a position that was later elevated to “senior vice president in charge of global communications.”
Meanwhile, Stefano Cantino joined the company in May, having previously worked for Louis Vuitton as senior vice president of communications and events. Gucci has appointed him as deputy managing director, and he will assist CEO Jean-François Palus in his duties. Palus has led the company for a year, while Sabato De Sarno, who succeeded the renowned Alessandro Michele at the start of 2023, has been in charge of creative direction.
