GREENEXT Expo 2025 Redefines Sustainability as Actionable Business Strategy in Shanghai

The GREENEXT Expo 2025 concluded successfully on September 27 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. It attracted 5,022 professionals, signaling a shift from asking why sustainability matters to focusing on how to implement it. Moreover, the event encouraged cross-sector collaboration among over 120 enterprises and highlighted more than 200 actionable case studies.

Dr. Hong Zheng, Founder of GREENEXT, explained, “Sustainability is a journey carried by tangible solutions—from product design to business models, from technological innovation to cultural expression. These transform green ideals into perceptible, actionable practices.”

Actionable Solutions Across Six Strategic Zones

GREENEXT 2025 presented over 200 scalable solutions, organized into six thematic zones:

  • Fashion Forward: Showcased circular economy models for textiles, featuring global brands like adidas and Ellassay Group.

  • Living Earth: Highlighted regenerative links between nature and commerce. Exhibitors included The Macallan, showcasing transparent “field-to-bottle” supply chains.

  • Green for Next: Focused on corporate resilience, ESG disclosure, carbon auditing, and low-carbon manufacturing, with contributors like HKRI Taikoo Hui and Tencent CarbonXmade.

In addition, the event emphasized four critical commercial scenarios: Urban Regeneration, Global Expansion, Technological Innovation, and embedding Public Good to ensure long-term competitiveness.

Global Dialogue and the New Aesthetic of Value

The conference hosted 183 global experts across 77 sessions. Furthermore, diplomatic representatives from Finland, Norway, Belgium, and Denmark participated in discussions, fostering essential global collaboration.

Ms. Ruifang Ding, Co-General Manager of HKRI Taikoo Hui, noted, “The Third Aesthetic of Commercial Spaces: Making Sustainability the New Luxury.” This insight highlighted the role of sustainability in redefining premium commerce.

Commitment to Future Talent and Philanthropy

The Expo launched several initiatives focused on talent development and social responsibility:

  • Shanghai Population Welfare Foundation Sustainable Development Fund: Integrates philanthropy with corporate responsibility.

  • Youth Action Guide for Sustainable Development: Mobilizes the next generation of innovators at the Innovation Hub.

  • Global Sustainable Fashion Consumption Industry Pioneer Awards Ceremony: Recognizes industry leaders driving sustainability.

Engaging the Public Through Experiences

Public participation included the Sustainable Journey, an immersive route featuring interactive workshops such as Climate Fresk and Recycled Plastic. These activities ensured sustainability concepts were tangible and actionable for consumers.

Driving Economic and Ecological Synergy

GREENEXT Expo 2025 demonstrated that sustainability can drive both economic growth and ecological benefits. Consequently, preparations for GREENEXT Expo 2026 are underway, aiming to expand its global reach and deepen its impact.
