GoaMiles and SCAN-Goa Offer Free Transport to Crime Victims

The partnership provides free, confidential transport to eligible crime victims, helping them reach courts and essential support services across Goa.

Panaji, Goa: GoaMiles has partnered with Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN-Goa) to provide free transport to eligible victims of crime. The initiative aims to make access to justice easier by reducing travel costs and transport-related difficulties.

The service became effective on 5 October 2026. It supports travel to courts and other essential services linked to victims’ cases. In particular, the programme aims to help families from remote parts of Goa who may struggle to arrange transport.

The partnership was announced in the presence of Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho, CCP Mayor Shri Rohit Monserrate and other dignitaries.

Free Transport Support for Crime Victims

Under the agreement, SCAN-Goa will have access to a dedicated GoaMiles agent panel. It will also receive a monthly credit to cover eligible travel needs.

Through this arrangement, beneficiaries can travel from their homes to court and back. They can also use the service to reach other essential services linked to their cases. Throughout the process, the partners will focus on privacy and sensitive handling.

Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho welcomed the initiative as an important step towards helping crime victims. He highlighted the difficulties faced by people travelling from remote areas. He also stressed that transport costs should not create an extra burden for those seeking justice.

Supporting Children and Women Facing Violence

Since 2019, SCAN-Goa has supported children in conflict with the law, children who need care and protection, and women facing violence. The organisation works with the police and judicial system. It also provides counselling, social work and legal assistance to victims and their families.

However, travel remains a major challenge for many people attending court hearings. Children, for example, may face long and tiring journeys with their parents or guardians. As a result, travel difficulties can add to the stress of court proceedings.

To address this gap, the new partnership will help eligible beneficiaries reach court and access essential support services. It will also ease some of the practical challenges faced by their families.

GoaMiles Highlights Community Support

GoaMiles Founder and Managing Director Shri Utkarsh Dabhade said the initiative reflects the company’s responsibility towards the community. He also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups.

In addition, he stressed the need to protect beneficiaries’ privacy. The transport service will therefore focus on confidentiality and sensitivity throughout each journey.

CCP Mayor Shri Rohit Monserrate also highlighted the link between transport and access to justice. He noted that travel should not become another obstacle for victims who are already dealing with difficult circumstances.

Making Access to Justice Easier in Goa

The partnership between GoaMiles and SCAN-Goa aims to improve support for crime victims and vulnerable children. By covering eligible travel needs, the initiative seeks to make court visits and access to essential services easier.

Moreover, the collaboration shows how transport providers and social organisations can work together to support vulnerable communities. Ultimately, the programme aims to make access to justice more accessible, compassionate and victim-centred.
