On a lively Thursday night, Givenchy, the famous French fashion house, celebrated the launch of its exciting “Givenchy Catwalk” book at its posh store on Paris’s Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, a fancy street in the heart of the city. The event was filled with bubbly champagne and tasty sushi, making it a notable moment for Givenchy as it introduced a detailed record of its fabulous fashion history.

The “Givenchy Catwalk” book is like a big thank-you to the brand’s rich history, covering an impressive 180 collections over a whopping seventy years. This book is a big deal for Givenchy because it digs into the brand’s archives starting from 2016, giving us a peek into the fashion journey from 1952 when Hubert de Givenchy started it all, up to today under the guidance of current artistic director Matthew M. Williams. It’s like a fashion time capsule showcasing the work of different designers who played a big part in making Givenchy the cool fashion name it is today.

Now, this book isn’t just a bunch of pictures; it’s a trip through time and creativity. Alexandre Samson, who knows a lot about fashion history and works at the Palais Galliera, teamed up with Anders Christian Madsen, a fashion critic for English Vogue. Together, they provide cool comments and interesting info for each collection featured in the book. They even include real reviews from newspapers and what customers thought at the time, making it a full exploration of each collection.

Alexandre Samson spent two whole years putting together the “Givenchy Catwalk” book, facing the challenge of choosing photos that would speak to a lot of people. His goal was to make a book that’s as interesting as curating an exhibition, something that would grab the attention of everyone from experienced journalists to students and people who’ve been in the fashion world for a really long time. According to Samson, he took on this big project because he really loves Givenchy. He said, “Givenchy’s heart beats to the rhythm of all eras, while keeping a good balance between things people want to buy and really amazing designs.”

This fancy book, published by Editions de la Martinière, is available in certain bookstores and online for 59 euros. It’s not just a book; it’s like a scrapbook of Givenchy’s amazing history, showing off each era’s style while keeping a cool balance between what people like to buy and what’s seriously awesome in design. “Givenchy Catwalk” invites everyone to dive into the world of fashion history, telling the story of Givenchy with style and a commitment to being really, really good at fashion.
