GCCI TEXTILE INTERACTIVE MEET ORGANIZED AS PART OF THE TEXTILE LEADERSHIP CONCLAVE 2023 HELP ON 8TH APRIL, 2023.

Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) has organized the (second edition) of their Textile Leadership Conclave 2023 on April 8, 2023, at Club O7, Ahmedabad. The “Textile Interactive Meet” was organized as part of the Textile Leadership Conclave, in the august presence of Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Textiles & Railways, Smt. Darshanaben Jardosh.

In the Textile Interactive Meet, key issues related to textile sector as well as other key issues related to industry were discussed at length with more than 200 office bearers of leading national and regional associations related to textile industry.

In his welcome address GCCI President Shri Pathik Patwari mentioned about huge contribution of Textile Industry towards Economy as well as employment generation within the state and at the national level. He remarked about consistent efforts of GCCI in facilitating dialogue between Textile stake holders and Government through Textile Leadership Conclaves organized over the years. He mentioned about Government’s encouraging Textile Policies 2012 and 2019 as well as Apparel Policy 2017 and proactive approach of Government in understanding Textile industry related issues. He welcomed the Hon’ble Ministers, senior Government officials and large number of office bearers of various textile related associations as well as leading industrialists present in the conclave.

Giving the theme address, Shri Saurin Parikh, Chairman, Textile Taskforce, gave details of Textile Leadership Conclave held in the year 2022 as well as the present edition. He also remarked about Textile related issues that need Government’s consideration.

In her address Smt. Darshanaben Jardosh,, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Textiles & Railways congratulated GCCI for organizing the Textile Leadership Conclave-2023 and mentioned that this is a good initiative by GCCI of bringing 78 associations from various parts of the country. She added that government has been always supportive and will continue to do so in the future.

The discussions during the Textile Interactive Meet covered many textiles related issues like Current Scenario of Textile Industry, Growth Plan, Incentive & Subsidies, Taxation as well as Cotton production for Textile industry leaders shared their concerns and suggestions about bringing synergy in the industry, and why the government should pay heed to the issues related to MMF, bamboo fibre, and wool, and levy a common GST duty across all fibres. Moreover, technology for enhancing the productivity of raw materials is the need of the hour according to some leaders.

A detailed presentation created by GCCI Team showcasing the wide array of Textile related issues was presented on the occasion. This comprehensive presentation was created with the inputs received from Textile related regional and national associations as well as Textile Industry stake holders.

Various vital issues discussed and submitted for the Government’s consideration were as
under:
• To introduce a new TUF/ TTDS Scheme with retrospective effect from 1st April, 2022 since the scheme has been under discussion for more than a year.
• Request to the Government to intervene and clear many TUF cases which are pending due to small/ petty issues and a practical view needs to be taken for such issues. This also includes disbursement of subsidy for SIDBI Bank customers where JIT visit has been done and yet TUF is still held up.
• To declare the time line as well as infrastructure related details for the launch of Mega Textile Park at Navsari under PM Mitra Park mission. This will give clarity to stake holders to plan their investment in the park.
• Request to announce a separate Solar & Wind renewable power policy as committed at COP 26 by Hon’ble Prime Minister, since this will greatly help Textile Industry in taking advantage of such policy and get ready for the global competition.

Overall, the Textile Leadership Conclave 2023 promises to be an engaging and informative event, providing a valuable opportunity for participants to learn, network, and share their experiences and ideas on the future of the textile industry.
