How VIBRAM and bluesign® Experts Are Driving Responsible Production + The Industry-Changing Addition of Safe Polymers to bluesign® FINDER

As the footwear industry addresses developing environmental pressures and stricter regulations, bluesign® is leading the charge with bold sustainability initiatives. Through partnership with industry pioneers and the expansion of its bluesign® Finder certified chemicals database to include SAFE POLYMERS, the leading system of clean chemistry is advancing the global shift toward cleaner, safer, and more sustainable footwear manufacturing.

Polymer Intelligence and the bluesign® Finder

As announced last week, in a major enhancement to bluesign® Finder, digital platform for bluesign certified chemical products, bluesign® has added a comprehensive library of advanced polymers, making it easier than ever for footwear brands and manufacturers to access verified, eco-friendly material solutions. These sustainable polymers meet strict environmental and safety criteria, providing manufacturers with the tools they need to streamline production, minimize waste, and meet regulatory requirements. This update to bluesign® Finder reinforces bluesign®’s commitment to helping the industry transition toward environmentally responsible practices.

bluesign® Footwear Sustainability Initiative and partnership with Vibram

As part of its blossoming footwear initiative, bluesign® has partnered with Vibram, a global leader in high-performance rubber soles, to integrate sustainability into the foundation of footwear production. Using its renowned input stream management system, bluesign® helps brands eliminate  harmful chemical use from the very beginning of production and reduce environmental impact while meeting rigorous safety standards. Together, bluesign® and Vibram are creating a science-backed blueprint for responsible manufacturing—one that aligns with stringent EU regulations, including the EU Green Deal (DPP, etc). By setting a new standard for sustainable production, these two companies are driving meaningful change within the footwear industry.
