A significant step forward in the creation of sustainable textile solutions has been made with the introduction of the first biodegradable fusible cotton shirt interlinings range 46xx by Freudenberg Performance Materials Garment (Freudenberg).
With this innovation, the world’s leading producer of woven, knitted, weft, and nonwoven interlinings lowers its impact on the environment and aids customers in achieving their own sustainability objectives. In Asia, the series is marketed as the 42xx series.
The new Freudenberg fusible interlinings for shirts and blouses were developed in a way that ensures their safety for both people and the environment at the end of their life cycle. The Hohenstein method, which integrates DIN EN ISO 11721-2:2003 and EN ISO 846, was used by Germany’s independent Hohenstein Laboratories to test the biodegradability and ecotoxicological safety of the 46xx series. The Hohenstein studies on the germination of garden cress and on earthworms in the acute toxicity test did not disclose any negative effects.
