The relationship between technology and fashion shopping is rapidly evolving in India, where the rise of e-commerce and the penetration of smartphones have converged.

Flipkart, one of the leading e-commerce companies in India, has been at the forefront of this trend by leveraging a range of technology interventions to enhance the fashion shopping experience for its customers.

A recent report by Flipkart has shown that video commerce, navigated experiences, image search, virtual try-ons, and video catalog are driving the growth of fashion shopping in India. These technological interventions have become increasingly popular among customers looking to access the best fashion brands from the comfort of their homes.

The success of these interventions has been apparent during the End of Season Sales that concluded on June 7th, as Flipkart noted an increase in the growth of unique visitors by double that of last month’s through Video Commerce. Moreover, the time spent by customers on the app who shopped through Video Commerce was almost twice as much as those who did not.

Abhishek Maloo, Senior Director of Fashion at Flipkart, said that the company is constantly exploring new ways to enhance the online shopping experience for its customers. He added that technological interventions such as Image Search, Video Commerce, and Navigated Experiences are providing customers, particularly first-time shoppers, with an enriched online fashion experience.

Flipkart’s efforts to tap into these technology interventions have made fashion shopping in India more manageable, efficient, and enjoyable for customers. The End of Season Sales revealed that Bengaluru has the most shoppers while New Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, and Kolkata follow. With the growing adoption of smartphones and e-commerce, we can expect technology to continue to shape the future of fashion shopping in India.
