Renowned for its strong manufacturing capabilities and thriving ecosystem, the Bangladesh RMG industry is a global hub for apparel sourcing. Over four thousand factories export various knitwear and woven garment products, such as shirts, trousers, T-shirts, denim, jackets, sweaters, etc.
Bangladesh currently leads the world in green garment manufacturing, with 150 LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Energy in Design) accredited facilities in the country. Nine of the top ten green garment factories and 40 of the top 100 are in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a reputable hub for garment sourcing around the world. Over 150 countries import ready-made clothing from Bangladesh.
RMG’s overall export earnings in January–March FY22 were USD 11527.70 million (woven USD 5569.43 million and knitwear USD 5958.27 million), a 27.24 percent increase. Bangladesh’s main RMG export destinations in FY22 were the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, and Belgium. In this quarter, RMG’s net export (calculated by subtracting RMG raw material import value from RMG export value) was USD 6022.53 million, or 52.24 percent of total RMG export.
