Eurofragance has introduced Olivante®, its newest proprietary perfumery ingredient, at Beautyworld Middle East in Dubai on October 27, 2025. This marks the Spanish fragrance house’s fourth exclusive raw material, designed to bring richness and depth to fragrance compositions in a more sustainable way. Olivante® is produced by upcycling discarded olive pulp through a 100 percent natural process, offering a caring and eco-conscious alternative for fragrance creators in Western and Middle Eastern markets.
As a leading creator of Middle Eastern fragrances, Eurofragance sees Olivante® as a valuable addition for perfumes that seek opulence. Its phenolic and animalic facets, reminiscent of castoreum, make it suitable for mukhallat-style creations. The ingredient also works effectively in other cultural contexts. Mayur Kapse, General Manager India, explains: “On its own the natural animalic character of Olivante® is ideal for an Indian target that loves powerful profiles such as shamama. In fragrance compositions that include typical Indian ingredients it works wonders too; a jasmine sambac will smell more fruity and a pink lotus note more leathery.”
Perfumers at Eurofragance note that Olivante® enhances the richness of fruity notes, deepens gourmand tones, and intensifies certain white florals, without leaving an oily scent despite being made from olive residue. Belén Garcia, Master Perfumer, adds: “In recent years we have seen how consumers in the West have opened up to Middle Eastern perfumery. Powerful notes of leather and oud have gained consumer acceptance well beyond the Gulf Region. Olivante® is multi-faceted and offers some of these olfactive aspects that are now appreciated across geographies.”
The development of Olivante® aligns with Eurofragance’s sustainability approach. By partnering with an olive oil industry collaborator, the company upcycles olive waste into a valuable fragrance ingredient. R&D Manager Felipe San Juan and Technical Perfumer Magdalena Rey spent extensive time studying different olive varieties in Spain to identify the best source of odorant precursors. Over two years, they worked closely with a waste management expert from a specific region to refine the material through an eco-friendly purification process. The final ingredient, now under patent review, results from isolating the essential molecules that give Olivante® its unique scent profile.
The name Olivante® references the Levant, the origin of the olive tree, which was carried west across the Mediterranean to Spain. As a Spanish fragrance house, Eurofragance highlights this heritage through a raw material designed for global appeal. Sine Guçetil, Global Marketing Director, states: “Olivante® stands out for its ability to offer perfume richness, or opulence, in a manner that is fresher and less heavy. And, it’s not just intended for fine fragrances. Our initial trials formulating personal care and home fragrancing products with Olivante® are promising and we feel that this a proprietary ingredient with strong potential for broader market adoption.”
With its natural origin, multi-faceted scent profile, and upcycled story, Olivante® is positioned to attract both perfumers and marketers looking to create richer fragrances supported by strong sustainability narratives.
