Renowned designer and creative director Eli Russel Linnetz has taken the fashion world by storm with the inaugural holiday collection for his eponymous label, ERL. Known for its relaxed West Coast aesthetic, ERL’s holiday offering reinterprets this signature style with a festive twist.
The collection is divided into two distinct colour palettes. The first, a classic Christmas-inspired red, features a bold plaid pattern that adorns everything from hoodies to shirts. The second, a more muted neutral palette, showcases washed-out browns and tans, offering a relaxed and understated look.
A standout piece in the collection is undoubtedly the plush brown California Shearling Coat, reminiscent of the custom ERL piece worn by Pharrell Williams. This luxurious coat, along with its hooded counterpart in a vibrant egg-yolk yellow, is accompanied by matching messenger bags and mid-cut boots, all covered in cosy fur.
For those who prefer a more subdued look, ERL offers a range of neutral pieces, including a brown Patchwork Heavyweight Zip-Up Hoodie with plaid panels, checked long-sleeve shirts, a retro Venice graphic tee, and distressed corduroy bottoms. The festive red plaid also makes an appearance on the signature ERL swirl hoodie, a matching plaid shirt, and a solid red pocket tee. To complete the holiday ensemble, ERL has introduced a collection of plaid boxers and fuzzy ERL-branded terry socks.
ERL’s recent collaborations with high-profile artists have further solidified its position in the fashion industry. The label designed a one-of-a-kind pin belt for Kendrick Lamar, featuring a curated selection of rare, vintage pins. While this bespoke piece is not part of the holiday collection, it highlights ERL’s ability to create unique and innovative designs.
