A significant development for Egypt’s fashion and manufacturing landscape is underway with Cairo for Investment and Real Estate Developments (CIRA) announcing the availability of 43 fully equipped leather production factories within the Robbiki Leather City project. This initiative aims to solidify Egypt’s position as a key player in the global leather industry by creating an integrated industrial cluster.

With a rapidly approaching application deadline, investors are encouraged to submit their proposals via the Digital Egypt Industrial Platform. The available units cater to a range of production scales, encompassing 20 factories at 2,000 square meters each, six at 1,000 square meters, and 17 smaller units of 121 square meters, some boasting ceiling heights of up to 10 meters. The option to combine units provides further flexibility for businesses.

These purpose-built facilities are designed for leather production and related industries, offering advanced infrastructure, access to marketing resources, technological training, and dedicated spaces for both international and local exhibitions.

Attractive financial incentives are being offered to prospective investors. Factory pricing is based on 2021 infrastructure and construction costs, and payment options include a 25% down payment with instalment plans of up to six years at a 10% interest rate, or a 7% discount for full cash payment. Partnerships with major banks, including the National Bank of Egypt, Bank of Alexandria, and the Export Development Bank of Egypt, will provide tailored financing solutions for machinery, equipment, and working capital.

Further boosting the appeal for export-oriented businesses is a 50% rebate on export burden recovery for products manufactured within Robbiki Leather City. This third phase of development focuses on establishing a comprehensive manufacturing base for finished leather goods, attracting both domestic and international brands and completing the leather value chain from tanning to finished products.

Robbiki Leather City benefits from a strategic location with connections to key ports such as Ain Sokhna, Adabiya, Suez, Port Said, Damietta, and Alexandria. The city also offers a modern road network and proximity to major highways, including Cairo-Ismailia, Cairo-Suez, and the Regional Ring Road, providing easy access to the Administrative Capital and other economic centres.

Industry leaders have lauded the project’s exceptional facilities, recognizing it as a transformative step for Egypt’s leather sector, aligning with global standards for environmental compliance and infrastructure. Strong interest has been expressed by prominent leather investors for both large-scale and SME-focused factories. The project has been significantly supported by the government, through the Ministry of Industry and the Industrial Development Authority.

Robbiki Leather City’s goal is to become a leading industrial hub fostering economic, environmental, and social diversity. Its integrated facilities, modern communication services, and advanced training programs aim to position it as a centre for innovation and growth within the leather industry, presenting a significant opportunity for investors to participate in a landmark project.
