In a major move towards promoting eco-conscious silk production, EcoTasar, a leading sustainable textile brand, has signed an MoU with Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour. This collaboration is set to enhance Tasar silk research, promote rural livelihoods, and strengthen environmentally sustainable practices.
The partnership focuses on joint R&D, knowledge sharing, and capacity building aimed at improving Tasar silk quality and yield. By blending EcoTasar’s grassroots textile experience with BAU’s scientific expertise, the initiative will support rural artisans and sericulture farmers, making the silk value chain more inclusive and resilient.
Khitish Pandya, Founder of EcoTasar, said, “This collaboration bridges innovation and impact. With BAU, we aim to uplift the rural silk sector through sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and communities.”
The MoU represents a joint vision to promote India’s silk legacy while creating green, fair-trade textile solutions. EcoTasar, founded in 2007, produces handmade home and fashion textiles using natural fibres like silk, cotton, and linen. Its centres in Bhagalpur (Bihar) and Saraiyahat (Jharkhand) are rooted in sustainability, using natural dyes and clean energy processes.
