In a quest to delve into the world of sustainable fashion and understand the nuances of apparel export merchandising, 28 students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Daman campus visited Cotton Eco Fashion (CEF) export unit in GIDC Umargam on October 7, 2023. The objective was to provide Fashion Management students with an insight into apparel export merchandising and entrepreneurial prospects within the burgeoning sustainable fashion industry. Cotton Eco Fashion (CEF) holds the prestigious Global Organic Textile Standard certification to sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
Addressing the students, the Director of CEF, Kiran Bandari said that contemporary apparel and accessories should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible. As pioneers in eco-fashion, CEF empower consumers and retailers to make choices that align with sustainability values. Mr P Vidhu Sekhar (Head, Fashion Management Studies) and Ms. Anshu Choudhary (Head, Fashion Foundation Program) participated in the interaction.
The visit underscored the significance of sustainable fashion practices within the apparel export industry. It showcased how sustainable fashion can be seamlessly integrated into every facet of the fashion supply chain.
