Coupang, Inc., a Fortune 150 technology company, has strengthened its India presence with the opening of a new Hyderabad office in July 2025, marking a major milestone for its India Development Center. This hub has rapidly emerged as Coupang’s fastest-growing global technology center, leading innovations in generative AI and core system ownership that power the company’s end-to-end commerce ecosystem.
The expansion comes on the heels of Coupang’s strong Q2 2025 performance, reporting net revenues of $8.5 billion (INR 70,800 crore, up 16% YoY; 19% FX-neutral) and operating income of $149 million (INR 1,240 crore).
According to Harshal Wanjari, Vice President of Engineering, India is central to Coupang’s technology and global growth vision. The India Development Center is spearheading mission-critical systems and advanced AI solutions that optimize customer experience, fulfillment, and logistics across markets like Korea and Taiwan.
Himanshu Verma, VP of Engineering and India Site Head, emphasized that India is building a powerhouse of innovation by pioneering Gen AI adoption. Coupang has also strengthened its leadership team by hiring senior engineers from top global tech firms, while expanding recruitment across Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
With revenues surpassing $30 billion USD in 2024 and recognition among Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies 2025, Coupang is investing heavily in India’s top-tier tech talent to drive its next phase of global innovation.
