Comet Expands into Women’s Footwear with Astra, Its First Dedicated Women’s Silhouette

The new sneaker marks Comet’s entry into women’s footwear with a design-led proposition tailored to the everyday needs and style preferences of women.

Homegrown footwear brand Comet has expanded its product portfolio into women’s footwear with the launch of Astra, its first sneaker silhouette created exclusively for women.

The launch marks a new phase in Comet’s product expansion as the brand moves beyond its existing core silhouettes and enters a segment with growing relevance in India’s sneaker market. Designed specifically with women in mind, Astra has been developed from the ground up rather than being adapted from an existing men’s style.

The silhouette features a low-profile construction, softer proportions and distinctive design elements intended to complement contemporary everyday dressing. Through Astra, Comet aims to bring its design-led approach to a women’s sneaker offering focused on versatility and everyday wear.

“Astra represents an important step for Comet as we expand our product universe and build for a wider consumer base. We didn’t want to simply reinterpret one of our existing sneakers for women; we wanted to create a silhouette from the ground up with the female consumer in mind. Astra is our take on what an everyday women’s sneaker can look and feel like with details that make it distinctly Comet,” said Utkarsh Gupta, Co-founder, Comet.

The launch comes amid increasing consumer interest in India’s sneaker category, which continues to gain traction across fashion, lifestyle and everyday footwear. Comet has also recently secured INR 100 crore in Series B funding, led by global evergreen investment firm Verlinvest. The investment is expected to support the brand’s continued focus on product development, sole technology and retail expansion.

With Astra, Comet is strengthening its presence in the women’s sneaker segment while continuing to build its proposition around distinctive design, everyday versatility and accessible pricing.
