In a path breaking new initiative, The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) today signed an MOU with School of Fashion Technology (SOFT), Pune, for Collaboration, Coordination and Cooperation between the two leading Institutions of the Garment Industry.
CMAI is India’s premier Association of the Garment Industry, and SOFT, affiliated to the SNDT University, is the leading Education Institute in the Fashion world.
The MOU envisages Mutual Cooperation in Recruitment, Training, Field Visits for Students, and Academic exposure to the Industry’s Entrepreneurs and Practitioners.
It is the first time that a National Trade Body has tied up with an Educational Institution in the Garment Industry.
The MOU was signed by Sh. Rajesh Masand, President, CMAI, and Sh. Ravindra Deo, Chairman, Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha, Pune, in the presence of Smt. Dr. Manju Hundekar, Principal School of Fashion Technology, Sh. Suresh Karale, HOD Internation Courses, Smt. Garima Bhalla, HOD, SNDT Courses and Office Bearers & Managing Committee Members of the Association.
Sh. Deo informed the gathering that 34,000 Students study at the MKSS’s every year, the MKSS’s currently runs 68 Institutes, of which 53 are Educational Institutes. One such Institute is the SOFT (School for Fashion Technology) which has 800 students on its rolls.
Sh. Deo thanked CMAI for undertaking this initiative and hoped that this initiative will further strengthen the link between Industry and Academic Institutes.
In a message to both the parties, Smt. Ujwala Chakradeo, Vice Chancellor, SNDT University, conveyed her happiness at this initiative of CMAI and SOFT, and congratulated both parties, expressing her confidence that this move would be hugely beneficial to both the Industry as well as the Students.
