Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Casio Computer Co., Japan, has launched ‘Every Second Counts’, a new corporate social responsibility initiative focused on supporting abandoned, destitute, and homeless elderly citizens.
Through this initiative, Casio India has partnered with SHEOWS (Saint Hardyal Educational & Orphans Welfare Society), a non-profit organisation dedicated to long-term elderly care. As a result, the company will fund medical treatment and staff salaries for doctors, nurses, and caregivers across SHEOWS centres.
Store Activation Encourages Community Participation
To begin with, Casio India marked the launch through an awareness-led activation at its Connaught Place store in Delhi. The activation highlighted the realities of elderly abandonment while encouraging public involvement.
Moreover, visitors could contribute directly through a QR-based donation system, making support both immediate and accessible. This approach helped transform awareness into action.
Leadership Emphasises Purpose-Driven Action
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Takuto Kimura, Managing Director, Casio India, and Mr. Akira Watanabe, Director, Casio India, said:
“Creativity and contribution lie at the heart of Casio. Through the Every Second Counts initiative, we are turning this belief into meaningful action. By supporting elderly individuals without care, we aim to restore dignity, healthcare access, and comfort. Furthermore, our partnership with SHEOWS allows us to create consistent and compassionate support for those who need it most.”
SHEOWS Addresses the Growing Elderly Care Crisis
Meanwhile, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, CEO, SHEOWS, drew attention to the worsening issue of elderly abandonment, especially during winter months. He noted that many seniors struggle daily without food, warmth, or timely medical care.
According to him, the collaboration with Casio India represents the country’s first focused corporate–NGO partnership dedicated to long-term elderly care and rehabilitation. Consequently, the initiative aims to build a sustainable ecosystem that prioritises dignity, healthcare, and inclusion.
Initiative to Support Over 400 Elderly Residents
Through this partnership, Casio India and SHEOWS aim to support more than 400 elderly residents aged 60 and above. These beneficiaries live across SHEOWS Old Age Homes in Delhi and Garhmukteshwar.
During the store activation, guests interacted with SHEOWS representatives and learned about individual life stories. As a result, many chose to contribute through the QR-enabled platform.
SHEOWS’ Three-Decade Commitment to Elderly Welfare
For over three decades, SHEOWS has provided free shelter, food, clothing, and medical care to elderly citizens facing physical and mental health challenges. In addition, its facilities include a Special Care Unit, 24/7 medical staff, physiotherapy services, in-house pathology labs, digital X-ray monitoring, and structured rehabilitation programmes.
Together, community support and corporate partnerships continue to strengthen SHEOWS’ mission of delivering dignified, compassionate, and comprehensive elderly care.
