The BUTEX Business Club from Bangladesh University of Textiles concluded its 5th industry visit at the BEXIMCO Industrial Park in Gazipur on Saturday. Fifteen members from the university’s (45-48) batch participated in the visit.
The textile industry plays a critical role in Bangladesh’s economy, contributing a significant percentage to the GDP. Textile engineers play a key role in controlling various aspects of this industry. Practical experience is highly valued in this sector, and the Butex Business Club conducts skill development programs and industry visits to provide students with valuable insights and opportunities for growth.
The industry visit organized by the club aimed to provide students with a close look at textile manufacturing processes. Students learned about spinning, weaving, dyeing, and denim-related facts at Beximco Industrial Park. A guide assisted students throughout the visit and they also visited the Beximco Mini Zoo before heading home.
The president of the Business Club emphasized the importance of students understanding industry activities alongside their education in textile engineering. The club initiated industrial visits to enhance practical knowledge, with the most recent visit to the BEXIMCO Industrial Park. The general secretary highlighted the need for students to connect with factories to supplement textbook learning. The club is working to improve interaction and understanding of the management system and bridge the gap between industry and academia.
