In a collaboration that aligns with their affinity for takeovers, Burberry and Harrods have joined forces for a major event this month. Running from Thursday until the 29th, Burberry is transforming the renowned luxury department store with a distinctive “knight blue takeover.” This activation emphasizes Burberry’s rich heritage, showcasing its involvement in outfitting explorers and crafting equipment for adventurers, with a strong connection to nature and the great outdoors.

The transformation includes Harrods’ exterior awnings, now resembling peeled-back tent canopies in a seasonal Burberry check. The store’s windows feature camping elements such as guy ropes, draped waterproof fabrics, and carabiners. In the evening, the store’s exterior will be illuminated in knight blue, the new signature color introduced by Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee.

As part of the takeover, the Harrods commissionaires, known as the ‘green men,’ are dressed in the knight blue check, marking the first time their uniforms have been redesigned by a fashion house. Additionally, a food element is integrated into the event, featuring a Burberry food truck offering British pastries and hot drinks, alongside a dedicated picnic space with knight blue benches.

Inside the store, visitors can explore the Burberry Camping Corner, offering classic British hiking accessories, a limited-edition orienteering map of Knightsbridge in collaboration with the Open City charity, and iconic Burberry trench coats in a dedicated rainwear space.

A capsule collection of over 40 exclusive Burberry pieces, including new bag iterations, sneakers, and eyewear styles, will be available at pop-up spaces and the webstore. This collaboration holds significance for both brands, as it marks the beginning of the celebration of Harrods’ 175th anniversary.

To commemorate the occasion, Burberry has customized a limited run of signature Harrods bears, each wearing a hand-embroidered scarf. Additionally, a custom Harrods hamper with a camping-inspired offer, including a limited-edition Burberry picnic blanket in knight blue, will be available. The takeover experience is not limited to physical visits, as it can be experienced virtually on Roblox and Snapchat, offering new and exciting ways to interact with the world of Burberry.
