It’s been a trend for a few seasons—seen on the runways at Oscar de la Renta or Alberta Ferretti
last year, and famously worn by Katie Holmes in 2019—it’s only gaining momentum. For the past
few months, we’ve seen stars embracing the bra top in clever ways that are even appropriate for
cold weather.
You can wear a bra top on its own if you’re brave, but the most common outfits we’ve been seeing are bra tops with high-waisted pants, shorts, jeans, or sweats, and a matching cardigan, denim jacket, button-down, or oversize blazer. While body-baring clothing can feel intimidating to some, the bra as a top is one of the more accessible of the current sultry trends. Strike the right balance by pairing bralettes and bra tops with oversized, boyish pieces like a slouchy suit, a baggy button-up (worn open) with a pair of equally loose jeans. Most bralettes are simple in the front and more ornate in the back — but the Mae high-neck bralette is eye-catching just about everywhere, making it great as a top.
