Bharat Tex 2026 Opens with Record Global Participation
Union Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh inaugurated Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking the opening of India’s largest integrated textile and apparel event. Organised by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) with the support of the Ministry of Textiles, the four-day exhibition has attracted more than 6,000 international buyers from over 130 countries, over 1.3 lakh trade visitors, and showcases 20,000+ textile products across 1.6 million sq. ft. of exhibition space.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Textiles Shri Pabitra Margherita, Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles Neelam Shami Rao, senior government officials, state representatives, global buyers, exporters, investors, industry leaders and international delegations. Ministerial representatives from Russia and New Zealand also participated, highlighting the event’s growing importance as a global platform for trade, investment and policy discussions.
Bharat Tex 2026 features participation from eight sponsor states and nine partner states and Union Territories, showcasing textile manufacturing capabilities, industrial infrastructure and investment opportunities from across India. Dedicated investor sessions and PM MITRA park discussions are also being organised to strengthen Centre-State-industry collaboration.
The exhibition presents the complete textile value chain, including fibres, yarns, fabrics, apparel, home textiles, technical textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, machinery and textile technology. International exhibitors from 14 countries, along with organisations such as the United Nations and the European Union, are participating alongside leading Indian textile companies.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Giriraj Singh said Bharat Tex has rapidly evolved into a globally recognised platform for trade, innovation and policy dialogue. Referring to the Prime Minister’s 5F vision—Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion and Fashion to Foreign—he emphasised India’s growing role as a reliable and sustainable global sourcing destination.
The Minister highlighted key government initiatives supporting the sector, including the development of seven PM MITRA Mega Textile Parks, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for man-made fibres and technical textiles, and the SAMARTH programme, which has trained over five lakh people, most of them women. He also noted that recently concluded free trade agreements with countries including Australia, the UAE, Oman and the UK are expected to strengthen India’s textile exports and global competitiveness.
The government has set an ambitious target of increasing textile exports from around USD 37.7 billion to USD 100 billion by 2030, with a focus on style, scale, skill and sustainability as the key pillars for future growth.
During the inauguration, Bharat Tex Trade Federation and Première Vision Paris signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen India-Europe collaboration in textile sourcing, innovation, sustainability, design and global market access. The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for Indian manufacturers, exporters, designers and MSMEs to engage with leading international brands.
Over the four-day event, Bharat Tex 2026 will host more than 100 knowledge sessions, over 350 global speakers, 4,000+ curated B2B meetings, numerous government-to-business interactions and the signing of more than 30 MoUs covering trade, sustainability, technology and investment.
The event also includes the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026 and leverages digital tools such as its mobile application and AI-enabled matchmaking platform to facilitate efficient networking and business engagement.
As India’s flagship textile exhibition, Bharat Tex 2026 aims to reinforce the country’s position as a globally trusted textile manufacturing and sourcing hub while advancing sustainable, innovation-led and future-ready textile value chains.
